Flattening Your Poster

Your Civic Line poster has just arrived in the mail and you’re stoked! You already have in mind just the right spot to hang up a piece of your favorite city where all your guests can ooh and ahh over it. As you cradle your mailing tube, a realization dawns on you. Your poster has been curled tightly in its tube for the past couple days. You’re worried you might crease or bend your precious art while trying to remove it from the tube and place it in its frame. Fear not! You can perfect your poster in no time by following this simple guide:

  1. Pull off the end cap closest to the Civic Line seal.

  2. Remove your poster from the mailing tube by gently sliding it out.   Lay the poster facedown on a flat, clean surface...somewhere it won’t pick up oil stains, bread crumbs, cat hairs, beer or wine, or any other unexpected particles that may mar your masterpiece.

3. (Option A) Your tube serves as the perfect uncurling device! Simply roll the poster around the outside of the tube in the opposite direction of the curl and secure it with a couple rubber bands, hair ties, or other elastic device. We suggest avoiding the use of adhesives to secure the poster as this could remove some of the print’s ink. Let your tube "unwind" like this for about an hour.

  3. (Option B) If you can't find an elastic band or you don't feel confident in your rolling skills, there is still hope!   Lay your heaviest books (or other similar clean, flat, heavy objects) on either end of the poster. Now, binge watch your favorite series, do that grocery shopping you've been putting off, and grab some shut eye–your poster will be ready in about 24 hours.
